Service Description
Join us for a fun, structured walk at the Brainerd Arboretum trailhead (weather permitting) designed to strengthen your dog’s obedience and leash skills in a real-world setting. This class is open to dogs who have completed Beginner Good Dog or Beginner Obedience. We will practice core skills like loose-leash walking, about turns, left turns, sits, downs, and stays while walking alongside other dogs. Learn to keep your dog focused and responsive in a group environment, all while enjoying fresh air and exercise. Required Equipment: 6-foot leash and Training collar (flat, choke chain, prong, martingale, or head halter — no harnesses). Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear for trail conditions.

Our Policy
To ensure a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all participants, please follow these guidelines: Facility Etiquette Smoking is not permitted inside the training facility. Please do not disturb classes in progress. Be courteous during class. Observers must remain quiet and out of the way. Objectionable or offensive language is not allowed. Children must be supervised at all times by an adult who is not training a dog. Participants must be at least 12 years old unless the Board has granted special approval. Dog Care & Safety Dogs must be taken to the designated “potty area” before class. Owners are responsible for promptly cleaning up after their dogs. Dogs may not urinate or defecate on equipment, buildings, or other property. Proof of vaccination (rabies, distemper, and parvovirus) is required before attending class. Dogs with fleas are not permitted in the facility. Female dogs in heat may attend class only if wearing protective pants. If you bring more than one dog, any unattended dog must be crated. Electronic collars (e-collars/shock collars) are not allowed in class. Hitting, kicking, or otherwise striking a dog with hands, feet, or leashes is strictly prohibited. Any dog posing a danger to people or other dogs may be excused from the facility. This decision must be made by at least two individuals, one being a Board member. Training & Conduct All training methods used in class must be approved by CCBKC instructors. The CCBKC Board has established and enforces a Code of Ethics for Instructors. CCBKC does not condone the operation of puppy mills or farms and will work to educate members about the harm such practices cause. Administrative Refunds will only be issued with Board approval. Failure to follow these policies may result in dismissal from class without refund. Canine Connection Brainerd Kennel Club does not offer refunds for cancellations. In unique circumstances, exceptions may be made with approval from the Board of Directors If a class is canceled due to inclement weather, a make-up class will be scheduled.
