Service Description
This class is a fun introduction to Rally Obedience! Rally obedience is a dog sport where a handler and their dog move together as a team through a timed course of 10 to 20 numbered stations. Each station features a sign instructing the team to perform a specific obedience skill, such as a sit, stay, turn, change in pace or other maneuver. Dogs entering this class should have already successfully completed a beginning obedience class have been introduced to heeling, sit, stay, down, and come. Through continued practice, handlers will learn to strengthen these skills while improving communication, reliability, and teamwork with their dogs. Rally Obedience uses positive reinforcement and is a fun way for handlers and the dogs to work together. In this class, you will learn will how to read and perform Rally signs, understand the basic rules to Rally, and navigate a Rally course. The class can also help prepare the handler-and-dog teams who are interested in competing in Rally Trials and earning Rally titles. Equipment needed: Training collar (Slip chain, slip collar, flat, prong, or martingale), 6-foot leash, and small soft training treats. Please wear indoor shoes on the training mats.

Our Policy
To ensure a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all participants, please follow these guidelines: Facility Etiquette Smoking is not permitted inside the training facility. Please do not disturb classes in progress. Be courteous during class. Observers must remain quiet and out of the way. Objectionable or offensive language is not allowed. Children must be supervised at all times by an adult who is not training a dog. Participants must be at least 12 years old or accompanied by an adult. Dog Care & Safety Dogs must be taken to the designated “potty area” before class. Owners are responsible for promptly cleaning up after their dogs. Dogs may not urinate or defecate on equipment, buildings, or other property. Proof of vaccination (rabies, distemper, and parvovirus) is required before attending class. Dogs with fleas are not permitted in the facility. Female dogs in heat may attend class only if wearing protective pants. If you bring more than one dog, any unattended dog must be crated. Electronic collars (e-collars/shock collars) are not allowed in class. Hitting, kicking, or otherwise striking a dog with hands, feet, or leashes is strictly prohibited. Any dog posing a danger to people or other dogs may be excused from the facility. Please see our policy on Recognizing and Responding to Aggressive Behavior. Classes and Registration Canine Connection Brainerd Kennel Club does not offer refunds if a participant misses a class. Refunds for an entire class will only be issued with Board approval. If a class is canceled due to inclement weather or instructor illness, a make-up class will be scheduled.
